A RICS Home Survey is a professional inspection of a property carried out by a certified surveyor to assess its condition, identify defects, and provide guidance for buyers or homeowners.
It helps you make informed decisions before buying, selling, or maintaining a property by highlighting structural issues, repairs, and maintenance needs.
The survey covers foundations, walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, electrical systems, and overall structural integrity, along with maintenance advice and condition ratings.
Typically 1–3 hours for standard homes, depending on the property size, type, and complexity.
Some RICS surveys (Level 2 + Valuation) provide market valuation and insurance reinstatement figures. Basic surveys focus on condition only.
The survey highlights visible defects and risks, but it is non-invasive. Hidden issues may require specialist inspections.
